ABOUT

Poster printing for Newcastle, without the print shop

Newcastle is standard UK delivery, the same as anywhere else in England: included, tracked, usually two to three working days after dispatch. Prints ordered before 3pm on a working day leave the same day; framed prints take one to three working days to make first.

Two choices decide how a print looks on the wall, and both are free. Finish: matte for artwork, black and white, and anything going behind glass; satin or gloss for colour photos. Frame: Black is the safe choice on a pale wall, Oak warms a room up, White disappears into a white wall and lets the picture do the work. If you're unsure, matte and Black is hard to get wrong.

The paper is 240gsm giclée, no minimum order, three or more prints to one address 20% off, and prices set for the five thousand or so sellers who use us every day rather than for walk-in customers.

Homes
Photos, digital downloads, children's drawings, gig posters. One print, no minimum, delivered to the door.
Businesses
Office art, event signage, exhibition and market prints. Pay per order, no account manager required.
Sellers
More than 5,000 shops print with us every day, which is why a single poster costs so little.

THE PAPER

Paper you can feel

Every poster is printed on 240gsm archival paper, FSC-certified, with giclée-quality inks. It's the paper our sellers get rave reviews for, and it's the same for a single print as for a thousand. Three finishes, all the same price.

Gloss
Bold, vibrant colours with a reflective shine. The one for photos.
Satin
Smooth, subtle sheen with minimal glare. Lifts colour without the shine.
Matte
Classic flat finish, no reflections. The choice for art prints and anything behind glass.

Printing in Newcastle: your questions

Do you print black and white?

Yes. Choose matte and the blacks come out deep and even with no reflection. Upload the image as it is; there's nothing to set.

Do you do mounts?

No, but the same look is easy: add a white border to your file before you upload and it prints as part of the image, with the frame sitting on the border.

Will the colours match my screen?

Close, not identical. A screen is backlit and paper isn't, so expect a print to be a touch less bright, most noticeably on matte. Satin and gloss are the closest to how a photo looks on a phone.

What's the latest I can order for a date?

Order before 3pm on a working day and it leaves that day, usually arriving two to three working days later. A week ahead is comfortable; Priority at checkout is the fastest option for orders of prints.

Delivery covers Tyneside and the North East, including Gateshead, Sunderland, Durham, North Shields, Whitley Bay and Morpeth, at the same price. Nearby: York and Leeds. Across the country: the UK.

Matte, satin or gloss, and which frame colour

Two decisions, both free, both reversible on the next order. Finish first: matte for artwork, typography, black and white, and anything going behind glass; satin for most colour photos; gloss for photos where you want the colour to pop and the wall isn't opposite a window. If in doubt, satin for photos, matte for everything else.

Then the frame. Black is the safe choice: it works on pale walls, dark walls and most images. White suits bright rooms and light images and tends to disappear into a white wall, which lets the picture do the work. Oak warms a room and suits photos with wood, skin tones or sunlight in them.

The combination that's hardest to get wrong is matte in Black. The combination people are most pleased with once they've seen it is a warm photo in Oak. Framed prints are always matte, so the finish decision only applies to unframed.
