If you already sell prints, the practical question is how to introduce framed options without disrupting your catalogue. Here is how to roll them out using our frame range, listing tools and Etsy order integration.
1. Offer a finished product using artwork you already sell
A print-only buyer still needs to find a suitable frame. A framed option lets them choose the finished look in your listing instead.
That gives you a useful way to expand your catalogue without creating a new design for every product. A botanical illustration can stay available as an unframed poster while also offering Black, White and Oak frame options.
Our print-on-demand framed prints include:
- The printed artwork: matte Premium archival-grade paper, 200gsm minimum and 260gsm in most locations.
- A pine wood frame: available in Black, Oak or White. Oak describes the finish; all three frames are pine.
- Shatter-resistant plexiglass: 1–2mm thick.
- A ready-to-hang finish: artwork already inserted, with a hanging kit included.
- Protective packaging: corner-protected and boxed by our team.
There is no separate mount. If your design needs a mount-style appearance, add a white border to the artwork file; that border prints as part of the image.
Framed prints default to matte because satin and gloss can create glare behind the glazing. Your unframed poster range can still use matte, satin or gloss.
2. Choose framed sizes that fit your existing catalogue
You do not need to offer every framed size on day one. Start with designs and dimensions you can present clearly, then expand once your listings and files are set up.
We offer the following core framed sizes across our frame regions:

Not every poster size has a framed equivalent. We do not frame A0, 6×8, 28×40, 30×40 or square sizes. Keep those as print-only options rather than copying your entire poster size list into the framed range.
Black, Oak and White finishes are available throughout our frame regions: the UK, USA, EU, Canada, Australia and Rest of World. Use our current pricing and availability to check the sizes and destinations you intend to sell.
3. Reuse your print files without rebuilding every product
In PrintShrimp, the order determines whether an artwork file becomes a print or a framed print. You do not need a separate artwork product for each frame colour.
On Etsy, use one product SKU across the design’s size and frame variations. We read the size and frame choice from the order and match the SKU to your saved artwork.
For example, an illustration with the SKU BOTANICAL-01 can offer an A3 print, an A3 Black frame and an A3 White frame using the same A3 print file. A different size needs its own correctly shaped file, not a new design SKU.
Before adding framed options, check:
- Artwork proportions: each offered size needs a file that fits its shape.
- Edge details: keep important text and features away from the edge; the frame overlaps the artwork by approximately 2–3mm on each side.
- Borders: include any intended white border in the uploaded image.
- File quality: use high-resolution artwork suitable for the largest size you offer.
If you are switching your poster print on demand fulfilment to us, you can add products as you go. There is no need to upload your whole catalogue before starting.
4. Update existing Etsy variations without recreating your listings
Already have established Etsy listings? Our free Change Variations & Prices tool lets you apply sizes, options and prices across the listings you select. That gives you a practical route to adding framed choices without rebuilding each listing individually.
The important part: this tool overwrites all variations and prices on the selected listings. It is not an add-only frame button. Decide which print-only options you want to retain as well as which framed combinations you want to introduce.
Turn off Etsy’s global and domestic pricing for those listings before using the tool. Start with a small selection, then check that the resulting size and frame choices match what you intended before updating more of your catalogue.

5. Show buyers exactly what their framed choice includes
Framed options need more than an extra dropdown. Buyers should be able to see the finished look and understand what arrives.
The Listing Hub creates room-scene mockups using the scenes selected in your template. Mockups are included with the listings it generates, so you do not need the separate Bulk Mockup add-on for that workflow. You can also download mockups for use in existing listings and your marketing.
Choose scenes that suit the artwork’s shape and orientation, and make the available finishes clear. Pair those images with a short specification section:
- Print-only or framed option, as selected.
- Black, Oak-finish or White pine frame.
- Matte printed artwork included with framed orders.
- Shatter-resistant plexiglass and hanging kit.
- No separate mount; any visible border is part of the artwork.
This keeps the choice simple: buyers can select the size and finish they want without guessing whether the frame is included.
6. Connect Etsy and let us handle the physical order
Connect your shop through Tools → Integrations → Etsy in your PrintShrimp account. Imported orders match to your artwork by SKU, while the buyer’s selected options identify the size and frame finish.
Review your first framed orders before payment. If a frame colour is unclear, the order waits for you to select Black, White or Oak rather than leaving the choice to guesswork.
Once paid, we print, frame, protect and ship the order without PrintShrimp branding. With Etsy tracking sync enabled, we send tracking back to the connected Etsy order when it becomes available. You remain responsible for your listings and customer relationships; we handle production and fulfilment.
Framed prints usually take 1–3 working days to produce, followed by the destination’s delivery estimate. Standard shipping is included for the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and our listed EU countries; Rest of World has a separate shipping charge.
