Want to add print on demand fine art to your Etsy shop without rebuilding your catalogue? With PrintShrimp, you can sell Premium and Fine Art prints on the same Etsy listing. Your buyer chooses the paper, and we print, pack and ship the version they ordered.

The key is simple: keep your default paper quality set to Premium, then offer a buyer option such as Paper: Premium / Fine Art. When the buyer selects Fine Art, we import that item as a Fine Art print. When they select Premium, it stays a Premium print.

That gives you two distinct products from the same design: an archival Premium print and a textured cotton rag alternative. Here’s how to make the choice clear to buyers and get the fulfilment right.

Give your artwork two ways to sell

Adding another paper option lets you expand your range without creating another design. But the difference needs to mean something to your customer—not just appear as an unexplained upgrade in a dropdown.

Our Premium paper is archival grade, with a minimum weight of 200gsm and 260gsm in most locations. Our Fine Art range is a separate product: 300gsm, 100% cotton rag, cold press, with a soft watercolour texture and a non-reflective surface.

Product What your buyer receives How to position it
Premium print Archival-grade paper, 200gsm minimum and 260gsm in most locations, available in matte, satin or gloss Your core poster and art print range
Fine Art print 300gsm, 100% cotton rag with a soft watercolour texture and non-reflective surface A higher-end option for painted work, illustrations, photography and fine art reproductions
Framed print A matte Premium print in a Black, White or Oak pine frame, delivered ready to hang A finished wall-art option, separate from cotton rag Fine Art

Sell the material difference. A customer choosing a watercolour reproduction can understand the appeal of textured cotton rag. Another buyer may prefer your Premium print. You can serve both without buying paper stock or managing physical fulfilment.

Set up the paper choice so we print the right product

For a mixed Premium and Fine Art Etsy range, there are three details to get right.

1. Keep your default paper quality on Premium

In PrintShrimp, go to Settings → Printing → Default paper quality and select Premium.

This matters because setting the default to Fine Art makes every imported print from Etsy and Shopify a Fine Art print. That setting is useful for an entirely cotton rag print range, but it is not the setting to use when buyers should choose between the two papers.

With Premium as your default, Etsy’s selected buyer option can identify the Fine Art orders individually.

2. Use an explicit buyer option value

Add an Etsy option such as Paper, with the values Premium and Fine Art.

We recognise a Fine Art selection when the buyer’s chosen option value says fine art, giclée or cotton rag. Using the straightforward value “Fine Art” keeps the choice easy to understand.

The selected value is what counts—not the option’s name or the listing title. Naming an option “Fine Art Paper” does not identify the product if its selected value is only “Upgrade”. Use wording that explicitly names the paper.

3. Check the imported item before payment

Imported Fine Art items show a Fine Art badge in Create Orders. Their paper is shown as Fine Art, with no separate matte, satin or gloss choice.

For your first orders, check the product type, size and artwork before paying. You can edit unpaid orders; once an order enters production, it cannot be changed.

Why “fine art print” in your title does not change fulfilment

You may already use “fine art print” to describe your artwork on Etsy. That phrase alone does not tell us to use cotton rag paper.

With your default paper quality set to Premium, a listing titled “Botanical Fine Art Print” still imports as Premium unless the buyer selects a recognised Fine Art option value.

That distinction protects your core range. You can describe the artwork naturally without accidentally changing the paper used for every order.

  • Title says “fine art print”; buyer selects Premium: the item imports as Premium.
  • Buyer selects “Paper: Fine Art”: the item imports as Fine Art.
  • Default paper quality is Fine Art: every imported print becomes Fine Art, regardless of whether you intended to offer both papers.

The practical rule: put the paper choice in the buyer’s selected option, rather than relying on descriptive listing copy.

Use your existing artwork without duplicating every product

PrintShrimp connects your Etsy order to your saved artwork by SKU. The order determines whether that artwork becomes a Premium print, a Fine Art print or a framed print.

You do not need a second artwork product just to offer cotton rag paper. On Etsy, use one product SKU across the design’s size and paper variations. We read the size and paper from the order and use the saved file for that exact size.

For example, you could offer an illustration in two sizes with Premium and Fine Art paper choices. Save the appropriate artwork for each size under one product, then use that product’s SKU across the Etsy variations.

If you are switching to us, you can add designs as you go rather than uploading your entire catalogue before getting started. Our team also provides free integration help.

Keep Fine Art and framed prints as separate offers

Premium and Fine Art can share an Etsy listing as paper choices, but our framed prints do not become Fine Art prints. We do not offer cotton rag Fine Art frames.

Our framed range uses matte Premium paper, with Black, White or Oak pine frames and shatter-resistant plexiglass. We insert the artwork and deliver the finished product ready to hang, with a hanging kit included.

If your shop also sells frames, keep the product wording clear so buyers are not offered a “Fine Art + Frame” combination that we do not make. A separate framed listing can make that distinction easier to present.

See our framed print specifications when building that part of your range.

Price each paper as a different product

Fine Art costs more to produce than Premium, so give each paper option its own retail price. Explain the cotton rag material and texture alongside the choice, rather than expecting the label alone to justify the difference.

Check our current pricing for fulfilment costs. Fine Art sizes and destination pricing are also available in the app’s Fine Art pricing tab. We make Fine Art prints for the UK, USA, Canada and the EU; check the available sizes for your destinations before listing.

Multi-buy savings are counted separately. Three or more Premium prints in one order to one delivery address receive 20% off their print prices. Three or more Fine Art prints qualify separately for 20% off their Fine Art prices. Two Premium prints plus one Fine Art print do not qualify. Frames never count towards the threshold and are never discounted; shipping and upgrades are excluded.

That distinction matters when planning promotions across a mixed-paper range.

Add a higher-end range without taking on fulfilment

PrintShrimp gives you a clear route from poster print on demand to a differentiated Fine Art offer: explicit buyer choices, SKU-matched artwork and separate product types in your orders.

You handle the designs, listings, marketing and customer relationships. We print, pack and ship white-label, with no PrintShrimp branding. Fine Art production usually takes 1–2 working days, followed by the destination’s estimated print delivery time.

Ready to offer both papers? Create your free PrintShrimp account and connect your Etsy shop. Start with a design that suits both ranges, make the paper choice clear, and let us fulfil the version your buyer selects.
