Your questions

Why does my phone photo fit 18x24 but not 16x20?

Phones shoot 3:4 by default, which is exactly 18x24. 16x20 is 4:5, slightly squarer, so it trims a sliver off the long sides. Either is fine; the crop tool shows what goes.

What's the metric equivalent?

46 x 61cm. 30x40cm is the same shape smaller; A2 is close in size but a taller shape.

Is it a good size for a bedroom?

Above a double bed, yes, as a single print; above a king, step up to 24x32 or go for a pair.

Gloss or matte for a photo at this size?

Satin for most photos unframed; gloss if the wall isn't opposite a window and you want the colour to pop. Framed prints are matte, behind the plexiglass.

Printing a phone photo at 18x24

The photo to upload is the original, not the copy that came through a messaging app. Originals from any phone of the last few years are several thousand pixels on the long side and print sharp at 18x24; a WhatsApp copy has been shrunk and will look soft at this size. AirDrop, a cloud link or an email with the full-size option keeps the original.

Upload it, and the crop tool fits it to 18x24 without cutting anything, because the shape matches. The preview then shows it in the frame you've picked. If it looks sharp there, it'll be sharp on the wall; the uploader warns you if it isn't.

Black frames suit most photos and rooms; Oak suits warm light, skin tones and wood; White suits a bright room. Framed prints are matte so there's no reflection behind the glazing.
