ABOUT

Poster printing for Dundee, without the print shop

Dundee is standard UK delivery: included, tracked, usually two to three working days after dispatch. Prints ordered before 3pm on a working day leave the same day; framed prints take one to three working days to make first.

Dundee draws. Comics, character art, illustration made in Procreate or on a tablet, and the thing that decides how it prints is the canvas size it was made at. The guide below covers setting up and exporting digital art so an A3 print is as crisp as the screen.

The paper is 240gsm giclée in matte, satin or gloss at one price; frames are Black, White or Oak pine with plexiglass, ready to hang. No minimum, three or more prints to one address 20% off, and prices set for the fifteen thousand sellers who print with us rather than for walk-in customers.

Homes
Photos, digital downloads, children's drawings, gig posters. One print, no minimum, delivered to the door.
Businesses
Office art, event signage, exhibition and market prints. Pay per order, no account manager required.
Sellers
More than 5,000 shops print with us every day, which is why a single poster costs so little.

THE PAPER

Paper you can feel

Every poster is printed on 240gsm archival paper, FSC-certified, with giclée-quality inks. It's the paper our sellers get rave reviews for, and it's the same for a single print as for a thousand. Three finishes, all the same price.

Gloss
Bold, vibrant colours with a reflective shine. The one for photos.
Satin
Smooth, subtle sheen with minimal glare. Lifts colour without the shine.
Matte
Classic flat finish, no reflections. The choice for art prints and anything behind glass.

Printing in Dundee: your questions

Can I print iPad or Procreate art?

Yes. Export as PNG at the canvas's full size. A canvas set up at A3 at 300dpi prints sharp at A3 and A2; a screen-sized canvas prints well at A4.

Can I change the address after ordering?

Before dispatch, yes: email hey@printshrimp.com with the order number. After dispatch it goes where it was sent.

Can I sell prints of my own art this way?

One at a time, yes, sent straight to the buyer with nothing in the box but the print and a slip. For regular sales, a free seller account prints and posts each order automatically.

RGB or CMYK?

Upload RGB, which is what Procreate and most apps export anyway. The press converts; very bright neon colours calm slightly on paper, and the preview shows the result.

Poster printing near Dundee

Delivery covers Dundee and the surrounding area, including Broughty Ferry, Perth, St Andrews, Arbroath, Forfar and Carnoustie, at the same price. Nearby: Aberdeen and Edinburgh. Across the country: Scotland and the UK.

Setting up digital art to print sharp

The canvas decides everything, and it's set before the first stroke. For a print, make the canvas the size you'll print at 300dpi: A3 is 3508 by 4961 pixels, A2 is 4961 by 7016, and Procreate lets you type those in or pick the A-size preset. A canvas made at screen size, around 2000 pixels, prints fine at A4 and starts to soften at A3; you can't add detail afterwards by scaling up.

Export as PNG, not JPEG, which keeps line edges and flat colour clean; untick any option that downsizes. Keep a white or coloured background layer on, because a transparent background prints as white and can catch you out at the edges.

Matte for line and flat colour, satin for painterly work with gradients. The preview shows the piece framed at the size you've picked; look at the edges and the thinnest lines before you pay. White frames suit most illustration; Black for anything dark or high-contrast.
